Before you start
Have a working image reference and know its required command, ports, mount path, and hardware requirements. A template describes configuration; it is not a running rental.
Steps
- Open Docker templates in Developer tools and create a template where your account has that permission.
- Enter a descriptive name and the exact image reference. Prefer a tested immutable digest for repeatable deployments.
- Set the startup command, environment settings, ports, disk sizes, and volume mount required by the image. Keep secrets out of template descriptions and shared fields.
- Save the template and select a compatible offering. Inspect the applied configuration on the service wizard before deploying.
- Run a small test workload and verify persistence and connection settings. Update the template deliberately when changing image versions.
Check the result
A later deployment can reuse the configuration while still validating hardware and provider compatibility.
Troubleshooting
A saved template may be unavailable on incompatible hardware. Custom templates do not become provider-certified just because they are saved.
