Understand customer accounts users and projects

Use the correct account and project for service ownership, billing, and team access.

Before you start

A user is the person who signs in. A customer account groups services, memberships, and billing. One user can belong to multiple accounts.

Steps

  1. Check the account selector before creating a service, viewing invoices, or making API requests.
  2. Open Projects to create a named project for a workload or customer. Projects organize related resources and costs within the selected account.
  3. Select the intended project during service configuration where available. Do not create duplicate resources just to move between views.
  4. For team membership or ownership changes, ask the account owner or support. A platform administrator is different from an account owner.
  5. Use the service identifier when discussing provider ownership with support; provider identities are separate from console sign-in users.

Check the result

Services and invoices belong to the intended account, and project views show that account’s resources.

Troubleshooting

If a service seems missing, switch to the correct account before assuming it was deleted. Account changes do not automatically grant access to another customer’s data.
