Share files and rotate object storage credentials

Use supported sharing controls and update clients after rotating bucket credentials.

Before you start

Only share files you are permitted to disclose. Check whether your service exposes sharing and credential-rotation controls.

Steps

  1. Open the file browser and select the file to share.
  2. Use the supported sharing action and review the returned link and expiry if supplied. Anyone with a usable public link may be able to read the file.
  3. For a suspected credential exposure, open Object Storage Details and choose Rotate access keys where supported.
  4. Immediately update every client and job that uses the previous credentials.
  5. Test a new authenticated transfer and check the old credentials are no longer usable. Keep shared links out of public tickets if the content is private.

Check the result

The intended recipient can access the shared file, and clients work using the new credentials after rotation.

Troubleshooting

Changing credentials may not revoke every previously issued sharing link; follow the service’s available revocation or expiry controls. Contact support if rotation is unavailable or a private link was disclosed.
