Start stop and reboot your VPS

Operate a VPS safely and verify provider state after each lifecycle action.

Before you start

Save application work and warn users before interrupting the server. Use the owning account’s service page.

Steps

  1. Open My services and select the VPS.
  2. Check its status. Use Start for a stopped server and wait for the state to update.
  3. Use Stop when you intend to shut the server down. Allow the guest operating system to complete shutdown before taking another action.
  4. Use Reboot to restart a running server after saving work. Wait for boot and verify SSH or your application returns.
  5. Review the service billing mode. Stopping a subscription VPS does not cancel its subscription; consult the displayed service terms for billable components.

Check the result

The provider state, service status, and application availability agree with the requested action.

Troubleshooting

Do not issue several conflicting actions while one is pending. If the console state is stale, use Refresh where available and report a persistent mismatch with the service ID and time.
